Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) is used for chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps unresponsive to medication. Through the nostrils, blocked sinus openings are cleared and polyps and inflamed tissue removed with an endoscope. There is no external incision and recovery is fast.
Dissolvable or comfortable packing is usually used; painful classic packing is avoided.
